Microcredit Mechanisms Volunteer

Village Exchange International/Ghana (VEG) seeks dedicated volunteers to support its microfinance program. Under the MFP, VEG extends loans to women entrepreneurs, especially young mothers, to help grow their small businesses, build savings, and work toward financial sustainability. VEG is currently expanding the MFP to reach a greater number of women in Ghana’s Volta Region. >>Read More Here

Jewelry Designer Volunteer

Using primarily local recycled materials and various beads produced by artisans around Africa, the Lady Volta Beads project, initiated in May 2007, supports alternative livelihoods amongst young women. The young women currently producing the jewelery require training in new techniques and general support for the production of new designs. >>Read More Here

Lady Volta Batik Designer Volunteer

Using local designs, techniques and skills, the Lady Volta Batik project, initiated in February 2008, empowers young mothers living in Ho.

The volunteer will help by using artistic creativity to design new “high-end, luxury” fabrics.  The batik cloth process is fun and easy to learn using wax stamps, dyes, and chemicals.  Batik workshops are available here for understanding the process. >>Read More Here

Marketing Volunteer

Sexual and Reproductive Health Volunteer

The activities developed through the VEG Youth Centre, set up by VEG in November 2006, are designed to target both in and out of school youth. The purpose is to provide them with accurate and up-to-date information on sexual and reproductive health (SRH) in a manner suited to and understandable by youth. The volunteer working on youth activities will establish contacts with youth groups from schools, youth associations, partner NGOs, churches and other sources to invite the youth to take part in group activity programs. >>Read More Here
