PCs and Laptops for the LVRC

The Lady Volta Resource Centre (LVRC) is extending its space and can now dedicate a full room for youth to use computers. The computers will be used to:

  • Access digital information on RSH issues including CD-ROMs, articles, educational movies and other materials,
  • Teach computer skills to youth groups,
  • Introduce the youth to the Internet (the LVRC has access to a broadband Internet service),
  • Promote the LVRC: Youth are often attracted by computers.Through their initial interest in accessing computers, young people are introduced to the resources and services available at the LVRC by the LVRC staff and through their own interest.

If you are renewing your computers, we are ready to take your old ones! Or, if you wish to donate some money to this cause, as little as $100 can help us obtain a decent second hand computer.

Marketing Advisor for Lady Volta Beads

Lady Volta Beads is an alternative livelihood project launched by VEI / Ghana in Takla Gborgame, a village located 15km from Ho Township. The project involves four young women, three of them mothers, in the trade of producing jewellery made primarily from local recycled materials.

The project has been growing fast. VEI / Ghana realises that this jewellerymeets an international demand for socially responsible business ventures emanating from the Developing World.

The jewellery production line is well established and ready to expand. VEI / Ghana now aims to target the export market and provide further young women the opportunity to gain a fair wage.

In order to accomplish this, VEI / Ghana will need to develop a strong, professional marketing tool set, and to strategically implement marketing actions.

Two New Microfinance Loans Provided

We thank those who have generously donated to build our credit capacity. Little by little we are building a portfolio that will meet the growing demand we are facing from groups of women who seek loans to develop their business ventures.

Two groups of women: the Bernado Enterprise and the Rejoyce group have benefited from a loan to help them expand their business.

The Bernado Enterprise is made up of three women selling undergarments on market days in Ho Township and in surrounding villages.

The Rejoyce Group consists of three women selling cloth as retailers in markets around the Ho Municipality.
